Additional Indiana Pacers Info

The Indiana Pacers were founded in 1967 as one of the original members of the American
Basketball Association (ABA). They took the name “Pacers” in honor of the pace cars of the
Indianapolis 500 and the state’s long history of harness racing. The Pacers were a talented
team from the get-go. They never missed the playoffs and won 3 ABA championships in 9
seasons.

The Indiana Pacers joined the NBA in 1976 and were much less successful in the new league,
posting just one winning season in their first 13 years. In 1987 the team drafted shooting guard
Reggie Miller followed by Rik Smits in 1988, and brought on head coach Larry Bird, which
helped turn the team’s fortunes around. Indiana Pacers Ticket Holders saw the team post 7
consecutive post-season appearances and make it to the Conference Finals 4 times throughout
the 1990s but wouldn’t break through to the NBA Finals until 2000. They eventually lost to the
Los Angeles Lakers in 6 games.

That’s the last time Indiana Pacers Ticket Holders would see the franchise in the NBA Finals.
The team went into a rebuilding period in the early 2000s and continued to turn in respectable
seasons, making it to the playoffs several times. In 2013, the Pacers, now featuring all-star
forward Paul George and center Roy Hibbert, advanced to the Easter Conference Finals, but
lost to the Miami Heat. Since then, the Indiana Pacers continue to make post-season
appearances, but have yet to get any closer to another chance at a championship.
The Indiana Pacers play all home games at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in downtown Indianapolis.
Golden Tickets has tickets to the best seats in the house for all Pacers fans.
